Which Programs can use Consumer Directed Services in Texas?

If you’re enrolled in a Texas Medicaid or long-term care program, you may be eligible to choose Consumer Directed Services (CDS) in Texas.

CDS allows participants to consumer-direct or self-direct certain services. This means you hire, train and manage your own attendants instead of using a traditional agency model. Many major Texas programs offer the CDS options.

Texas Programs That Allow Consumer Directed Services

· CMPAS

· DBMD (Deaf Blind with Multiple Disabilities)

· HCS (Home and Community Based Services)

· PHC/FC/CAS (Primary Home Care, Family Care, Community Attendant Services)
